Varicella Vaccine at 1 year old

My nephew just turned one year old. After giving him his long delayed second dose of flu shot a few days ago, I plan to give him his first varicella (chicken pox) vaccine next month.

Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine is usually given betweern 12 to 15 months old .The recommendation now is to have one shot at one year old and another booster shot around 4 to 6 years old. It may be administered at an earlier age provided that the interval between the first and the second dose is at least 3 months.

All individuals aged 13 years and above should receive two doses of the varicella vaccine given at least 4 weeks apart.

  1. Thanks for the heads up doc. MMR pa lang naman ang alam kong due na vaccine ni baby on her first year. I might as well ask her pedia about this.
